Dog in Greece (4)
Continuing my travel adventure:
Ah, mum, mum, mum, hi dad! Where have you been, I’ve missed you. Get me out of here. Must leap up and let them know how pleased I am to see them and wag a lot, so much my whole body moves.
No, I’m not having a pee yet – I prefer softer ground, not metal – I’ll wait, and I want my breakfast.
Back into the car, least this is familiar, and I’m so happy we are all together again. Well must whinge as we’ve started to move. Whinge, whinge. Oh daylight, back on dry land….but where?
They’re stopping! I can see sand and water – must bounce up and down now and move side to side. My whole body moves. Lead on, out of car, weeeeeeeeeeeeee what a relief.
As I’m running along the sand exploring this unfamiliar territory with strange foreign smells I meet a little dog. I just do not understand what he is saying; it’s Flemish to me, friendly enough though, let’s play chase. Well that was fun!
So, back in the car; fed and watered. It’s raining again by the way. Apparently we are in Belgium having crossed the English Channel (yes lots of water, couldn’t I have swum across instead of being in that very small cage? No, too far, OK). Settle down, have a nap, wait for next stop.
There’s a bit of discussion going on at the front as to which road they need. Dad is driving now and is taking no notice of mum’s directions. So they are now on a road that runs parallel to the one they should be on. We are passing through some very pretty countryside though. This is still Belgium.
We have now managed to join the main road and are apparently also heading in the right direction. That’s good I can have a nap.
We have a stop at a very pretty service station, well it looks much nicer than the last one (in the UK) as there is plenty of grass and greenery, perfect for a little walk. Again lots of new smells so I take my time; they seem quite happy about that – I think they needed to stretch their legs. Also the rain has stopped but I doubt it that will be for long as there are big dark clouds in the sky. They buy coffee and a snack and sit outside with me; I like it when they do that. It also means I might get something!
Back in the car again as, yes, the rain has started again. Oh, where are we going?
To be continued.
