Don’t Quit

I “re-found” this poem and thought I would share it with you – just in case you are needing inspiration!

Don’t Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up, though the pace seems slow -
You might succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor’s cup.
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt -
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit -
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.

Do not know the author, it was sent to my mum by email and made her cry.  Well I am her 4th labrador so she knows what its like.

MY LIFE

My life is likely to last 10-17 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.

Give me time to understand what you want of me.

Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.

Don’t be angry with me for long and don’t lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.

Talk to me.

Even if I don’t understand your words, I do understand your voice when
speaking to me.

Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.

Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you,
and yet, I choose not to bite you.

Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me, or that I might not understand what it is you want.

Perhaps I’m not getting the right food, I may be cut, I may be sick or I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.

Please take care of me when I grow old. You will grow old, too.

On that sad and difficult last journey, go with me please.

Never say you can’t bear to watch. Don’t make me face this alone.

Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

Tell me goodbye with your presence, no matter how difficult it is for
you, remember,

it’s worse for me….

Take a moment today to be thankful for your pets.

Enjoy and take good care of them.
